About Us

There are three of us here at Hideaway Camping — Amy, Jenny and Eddy.

We moved from London in 2013 with our children, hoping to escape the rat race and build a slower, more peaceful life in the countryside.

Our vision then — and still today — is to create a beautiful and welcoming campsite and retreat space where people can truly relax and unwind, breathe in the country air, wander in the woods and gaze up at the stars.

We are a small, family-run business and you will often see three generations working together around the site.

You will also most likely be greeted by our funny, fluffy dog Jasper, or one of our adventurous cats — Pixie, Sushie or Merlin — who all love a stroke and will happily join guests for a wander.

You will also meet our four friendly pet pigs — Kevin, Perry, Pablo and Bilbo — who have become rather famous with our visitors.

We are all very creative (and a little bit quirky), and almost everything here has been built or lovingly renovated by us. We truly pour our heart and soul into Hideaway. It isn’t just a business to us — it’s a dream, a way of life, and it’s our home.

We love meeting our guests, and many of our regular visitors have become good friends. You’ll often find us around the stone circle, connecting with others and sharing stories, or busy around the site feeding the pigs, tidying, fixing things and chatting with guests.

Alongside camping and glamping, we also host retreats and events, and love helping others create their own unique celebrations — from weddings and retreats to birthday gatherings and special weekends.

Hideaway is tucked away at the end of a half-mile private track — a true hideaway — yet perfectly placed on the edge of Dartmoor for exploring the natural beauty of Devon.
